LAUGH OUT LOUD! (My 25th Blog)
So many people have forgotten how good it feels to sit back and just laugh. Laughing heartily is known to have several benefits and you’ll be glad to know just how much it can improve your life. Plus, it’s free!
Laughing reduces the level of stress hormones in your body and increases the level of health-enhancing hormones like endorphins as well as the amount of antibody-producing cells. This builds up the immune system, making you more resistant to infections.
Laughed till your stomach hurt? It’s a good thing. Laughing is a great release — both physical and emotional. A good, hearty laugh exercises your diaphragm, contracts your abs and works out the shoulders, which leaves your muscles relaxed.
Nothing proves to be as good a distraction as some simple laughter. It helps you divert your mind from whatever negative emotion you might be feeling at that time. Humor can give you a more light-hearted outlook and help you view stressful events as challenges rather than obstacles, which make them easier to handle.
Get more laughter in your life!
Watch a funny movie or a TV show: Sometimes, even the most corny and brain dead comedies seem to evoke lots of laughter. There are a plethora of movies and television programmes that never fail to make you laugh, no matter how many times you see them. Keep a stack of CDs of these movies and shows and see them whenever you’re feeling down or stressed.
Reminisce with friends: Catch up with friends and talk about all those funny incidents that happened. Talking about fond memories is a great way to unwind.
Go for a funny play: There are several plays and stand-up comedy acts that are guaranteed to bring the smile back on your face after a stressful day at work. Go with your friends or family and try to make it a regular affair.
Find humor in everyday situations: While everyone feels frustrated, annoyed and irritated when things just don’t go their way, try to see the lighter side of things and laugh about them. Think of it as a funny story you could tell your friends. You’ll probably look back and laugh anyway. Approach each day with a slightly more lighthearted attitude and find more things to laugh about. You’ll realize that you’ll be able to deal with negative events in a better way.
Join a laughter club: Ever seen a group of people standing and laughing together in a park or a garden? While it may seem funny to you, there is nothing wrong in going for such things once in a while.
